Appendice 3: Neferys
As the vampires of legend were known to possess great physical prowess, so were they known for their incredible beauty. Set Embraced Hathor, a young priestess who was known for her beauty, as well as her ability to draw. Although Hathor wasn't an artist per se, she had talent as a performer. It was said it was Hathor who designed the final appearance of the hieroglyphs, and that she contributed to most Sechat's plans of building, adding to it a particular touch.
But Hathor had been a priestess of Bast, and she didn't forget the life of lazyness and pleasure loved by the followers of her Godess. And she was vain... When she finally created her Bloodline Discipline, she choose to enhance her own beauty even beyond the limitation of her blood. Neferys is her creation.
Note: Hathor will be seduced by the Wyrm's propositions, and will follow Nefertiti and Kemintiri in the Great Purge. She will participate in one Diablerie only, but will be shocked by the pain she inflicted. When Set and its last Childer will flee in the deepness of the Wyrm Caern, Hathor will turn away, and get back to the surface, to be killed by Horus' forces, or so it is thought.
In truth Hathor will survive by hiding near the surface, in the labyrinthine caves of the Caern. She will escape at night, but will be cursed by the Wyrm for betraying it. Few beyond her Bloodline knew Neferys, and her Bloodline have been completly wiped out. Hathor will create a new Bloodline, just after she joined the fabled Ananasi, and Neferys will become known (by few) as Nymphea (See the Bloodlinebook: Black Widow for more information).
Neferys has multiple effects. The first, and most obvious: It
effectively perfect the beauty of the Vampire, softening her
flaws and enhancing her beautiful features. Each level mastered
have a particular effect as a bonus, similar to the ''animal
feature'' effect of the Gangrel Flaw. The hair can grow longer
and/or reach perfect length and cut, the eyes take a new exquisite
color, etc..
The second effect is what Mages would call coincidental, and is
somewhat similar in its workings to the Mage ''Arcane'' Background:
Reality seems to slightly alter itself around the Black Widow. Wind
makes her hair flow in graceful waves, artists always seem to
easily find her most inspiring profile, giving them this ''je
ne sais quoi'', this apparent natural sensuality that
charms others so easily.
The third is less known: As Neferys supernaturaly enhance physical
appearance, it can counter the effects of deforming effects,
including supernatural ones. Most magical effects decreasing
Appearance will disappear at the end of the scene.
System: Each Neferys Level adds one dice to any Appearance Roll.
Of course, the visible Appearance is effectively ''increased''.
So any difficulty involving Appearance would in facts involve
Appearance+Fortitude, etc..
All Vicissitude damage (or anything with similar deforming effects)
can be healed as Aggravated Damage, regardless
of victim or assaillant's Generations.
Last but not least, Neferys can only be increased to the actual
rating of permanent Appearance (not including Vicissitude
deformations). So a Black Widow with 3 in Appearance could only
increase Neferys to 3, and so have a visible Appearance of 6.
So a Nosferatu can't learn Neferys.
