CHAPTER 1: history & Mythos
Hecate:
It was long, long ago, my Childe. It was before the Camarilla, before the Inquisition before even Rome itself. At that time, Greece was becoming the greatest nation of the known world, not because of actual conquests (even, if later, Alexander, would build the greatest empire of all times), but because of its wisdom.
It was the 7th... Or was it the 6th? Anyway, some centuries before the nailed god's sacrifice, appeared in Cappadocia a great sorceress. Hecate, she called herself. It was believed she was a vampire, but perhaps one of the east. She gathered a small herd of faithful believers, most of them proficient in the talent of magic, in her temple.
She was a loner, and most creatures who wanted to share her wisdom were sent back. Some among our Clans even tried to destroy her, or to drive her away. They all failed, for she seemed to draw her power form the abyss itself!
Centuries before the rise of the Tremere, she was strong in the ways of magic, and commanded over the shadows and the darkness. The Brujah and the Toreador believed she was a Childe of Lasombra himself, but where did she find the magic? Some among the greeks, who had the luck to talk to her, came back with this ridiculous idea about Egypt and its magic. About how they once could have destroyed Atlantis, and other silly things.
How ridiculous: If the egyptians had such powers, never Moses could have wrestled the freedom of his people from them. Egypt would still be an empire...
Anyway, the mortal hermetic orders, always fond of such occult knowledge, became obsessed by such things as the cult of Isis, and the secrets of the pyramids.
No...
Hecate was something else. The Brujah and the Toreador never succeeded in removing the influence of the Dark Godess of Magic and Hell. Anything they tried turned against them. It was said they waged the War of Troy just because of this. Perhaps...
But one of them succeeded. What was his name? Meneleus. A Brujah hero, as only the Brujah can spaw them, probably. Hecate destroyed, her temple became the focus of the Clan of Cappadocius. Then renamed their Clan after this land, to mark their attachment to it. And they explored the temple, for the secret of death, hell and heaven. But they found nothing.
And you my Childe, claim to have discovered her?
How romantic...
What do you mean, you're not my Childe anymore? You ungrateful childe! I will wrestle your intestines from... A Knight?
Knight of Mer -- Where did you find this blade?
No!!!...
About Sechat the Betrayer:
I'm honored to be assigned this mission.
I've heard about Hecate since centuries, and yet, no one seemed able to discover her secret lair. Twice, she was believed destroyed, and twice she laid her vengeance upon us.
My studies reveal she wasn't inactive since she fled with the germs of the Souleater in her breast.
