Characters

Sakura is the main character of the series. She is a 4th-grader of the Tomoeda Elementary school. She is a very energetic girl, as being athletic is her best attribute. She stumbles across the magical book "The Clow" and scatters the magical cards "Clow Cards" by accident. Now she is the world's one and only Card Captor to capture the cards back. Her name "Sakura" means cherry blossoms.

Tomoyo is Sakura's best friend. She is also a 4th-grader of the Tomoeda Elementary school. She is a very gentle and polite girl, whose hobby is to take videos -- not any video, but Sakura's video. She makes all the costumes for Sakura to capture the Clow Cards as well.

Touya is Sakura's big brother. Even though he seems to be picking on Sakura and calling her "monster" all the time, he actually loves his little sister very much. He seems to possess some sort of power as well, and is suspected to be somehow related to the whole Clow Card thing. The name "Touya" means peach blossom.

Yukito is Touya's best friend. Sakura also admires him, and so does Syaoran. He is a very kind person. Touya calls him by the nickname "Yuki." According to Sakura, he is smart, and he can do anything. He doesn't belong to any club either, and he only helps out with any club occasionally if they need him. He eats a lot, 3 times the amount Touya eats. His name "Yukito" means snow rabbit, "Tsukishiro" means moon castle.

CLAMP picked the name "Cerberus." But Kerberos is closer to the nickname "Kero." Kero is the Guardian Beast (or Beast of Seal) of the book "The Clow." It duty is to watch over the Clow Cards to make sure they don't turn bad. However, it fell asleep... Without enough magic, Kero can't return to its true form, and stays like the shape of a stuffed animal until Sakura captures "The Earthy" and "The Firey." In Greek mythology, Cerberus, or Kerberos, is a three-headed dog with a serpent or dragon tail, which guards the entrance to the Underworld.

The Japanese reading of the Li's name, "Shaoran" or "Syaoran", if it were to be read in Chinese, it would be "Shao-Lang." And since he comes from Hong Kong, I would say "Shao-Lang" is a more correct spelling of his name. Anyway, Li comes from a family of Chinese sorcerors, and is a distant relative of Clow. He collects Clow Cards as well, so he seems to be Sakura's rival. Because of one reason or another, Li is attracted to Yukito as well. "Shao-Lang" means small wolf.

Fujitaka is Sakura and Touya's father. He is good at cooking and sewing. A very kind father, who has lost his young wife, Nadeshiko, when she was 27. He is a professor of archaeology at a university. He is very good at sports as well. "Fuji" in "Fujitaka" means ivy.

Nadeshiko was Fujitaka's wife, Touya and Sakura's Mother. She married Fujitaka when she was still a high school student, at the end of 16. But she died at the age of 27 when Sakura was only 3 years old. Sakura doesn't remember much about her mother, only through the stories her Father tells her. But she loves her mother very much. At the house, they always have a picture of Nadeshiko at the counter, either from magazine (her Father collected all her photos) or taken by Fujitaka. Nadeshiko was a beutiful and gentle woman. Her name, Nadeshiko, means the flower "pink."

Belonging to the same cheerleading club, Chiharu is one of Sakura's close friends. She likes stuffed animals very much. A bright girl, always full of energy. "Chiharu" means a thousand springs (as in the season).

Naoko is Sakura's classmate, also belongs to the cheerleading club. Even though Naoko is a very quiet girl, she likes ghost stories very much.

Rika is a pretty, kind girl in Sakura's class. Very mature. In the manga, she and Mr. Terada are engaged. But she only admires Mr. Terada in the anime. She is good at cooking and sewing. A very talended and quiet girl.

Takashi is in Sakura's class. He likes to say things that would sound very convincing but actually is not true. However, it seems to work quite well on Sakura and Syaoran. He seems to get along with Syaoran.

Sonomi is Tomoyo's beautiful Mother, who turns out to be Fujitaka's student in high school, and Nadeshiko (Sakura's Mother)'s best friend since kindergarten. She is mad at Fujitaka because she said that he took Nadeshiko away from her. She had probably loved Nadeshiko more than just friends. She even has her daughter wear long hair because Nadeshiko had long hair.

Miss Mizuki is Sakura's class's new Math teacher. From the beginning, Syaoran seems to sense that she has "power." It turns out that she plays an important role in the "Judgment" by "Yue."

Mr. Terada is Sakura's class teacher. In the manga, he and Rika are engaged!! It doesn't seem to be the case in the anime, but Rika sure does like him.

Most wanted: Secret Eriol is a character from the 2nd series. A mysterious transfer student from England in Sakura's class. Syaoran is bothered about him. But Sakura thinks he is very kind and gentle, just like Father, and Yukito.

Nakuru is a transfer student as well, this time in Touya's class. She is very good in sports, and seem to have an interest in Touya. Even though Nakuru dresses like a girl, Nakuru actually isn't a girl. In fact, she said she isn't even human! She is hinting something at Yukito about Touya and Yukito himself, but she's definitely keeping a lot behind

Spinel's usual shape is like Kero, but it's black with bigger eyes than Kero, looks more like a cat. When magic is acted upon Spinel, it turns into a black panther with butterfly wings.

Yue is the judge for the approval of Sakura's ownership of the Clow Cards. Yue in Chinese means Moon. Yue's symbol is the moon, an opposite of that of Kerberos. When Yue is in human form, he is actually Yukito Tsukishiro.

Spinel's usual shape is like Kero, but it's black with bigger eyes than Kero, looks more like a cat. When magic is acted upon Spinel, it turns into a black panther with butterfly wings.

Nakuru is a transfer student as well, this time in Touya's class. She is very good in sports, and seem to have an interest in Touya. Even though Nakuru dresses like a girl, Nakuru actually isn't a girl. In fact, she said she isn't even human! She is hinting something at Yukito about Touya and Yukito himself, but she's definitely keeping a lot behind. Her true form, Ruby Moon, looks like a woman dressed and red and black, with wings behind her.

Meiling, is an original anime character. She transfers into Sakura and Syaoran's class in episode 20. She likes Syaoran very much and thinks of Sakura as her rival. She is good at fist fight.
