Biscuit took
the final trip to the Rainbow Bridge, today,
February 23, 2000. I just hope there's a place there like Jupiter
Beach where he can swim "'til the cows come home". I was priviliged
to have had the honor of being his human for almost three and one half
years, every minute of which I will cherish forever. Goodbye and God-speed,
Biscuit. You were the BEST.
FAREWELL, MASTER,
YET NOT FAREWELL,
WHERE I GO, YE
TOO SHALL DWELL
I AM GONE BEFORE
YOUR FACE.
A MOMENT'S TIME,
A LITTLE SPACE
WHEN YE COME WHERE
I HAVE STEPPED
WE WILL WONDER
WHY WE WEPT

This
site will remain as a memorial to my Biscuit, the Best of the Best.

About Biscuit
. |
Biscuit wasn't always as happy
and carefree as he appears above. Biscuit was "rescued" from the
Mohawk-Hudson Humane Shelter near Albany, NY in October of 1996 by a terrific
organization called "GRROWLS" (a nifty acronym for Golden
Retriever
Rescue
Operated
With
Love
- S/b>tatewide).
Biscuit was 10 years old, in very poor health and had been turned in to
the shelter; a death sentence under most any other conditions.
A GRROWLS volunteer took
one look at his "happy
face" and, in spite of his horrible physical condition, decided immediately
that this was one Golden worthy of a reprieve.
Biscuit spent almost two weeks at
the vet, attending his many problems - eye infections, ear infections,
severe flea infestation and resulting skin dermatitis, rotted teeth, ring
worms, malnutrition and a previously broken hip and leg as a result of
being hit by a car
(no, his former name was NOT "Lucky"---
)
Here's Biscuit AFTER all the work
done by the vet,

Well, after six months or so of
healing (including a near fatal antibiotic allergic reaction), Biscuit
decided that, at 70 people years old, he'd had just about enough of snow
and ice and it was high time to head South and spend some quality time
lying around on a beach - heck, if humans do it, it must be good for a
dog, too. He and his human thought long and hard about such a change
(about 2 minutes) and it was good-bye Albany, helloooo Tequesta, Florida.

Now the days are filled with challenges
- like
chasing stray cats out of the yard,
fetching the
Daily Growl, and anticipating the
next trip to
the beach (tough life, huh?) |
.
Biscuit LIVES for
the beach. That messed up hip and leg still give him a lot of problems,
but swimming - now that's another story. In the water, there is no
weight on the leg and swimming is a breeze. Biscuit lives up to the
breed reputation and "retrieves" 'till the cows come home. .

Here in Florida, Biscuit has been
named the official mascot of the
Friends
of Jupiter Beach and appears on their website also.
