Tenchi was an average 17 Japanese boy until he awoke Ryouko near his fathers temple. Since then he has had young beuatiful alien girls surrounding him were ever he goes(even though he is shy of girls). He befriends them all, but as time passes he accepts them as his family, even though they are all in love with him.
Even though Tenchi is shy of girls he would do anything from keeping them from harm. He is also a very patient man, which is very good within these cercumstances, because of all the bikcering that goes on ( Especially between Ryouko and Aeka).
In the later series we find out that Tenchi is decended from the Jurain Family (Which makes Aeka very Happy ^_^). We also find out that Tenchi isn't a normal boy after all, He harbours many powers, such as the ability to create Light Hark Wings, a powerful offensive and defensive weapon thought only to be created by the Jurain ships. he also has use of the Tenchiken, an energy sword that bears the name that he does. The sword has the ability to control all Juraian ships.
Of course the main question is "Who will Tenchi choose as his wife?" It seems that Ryouko and Aeka are close and battling for the position, but Sasami (Even though she is eight) we have seen glimpses of her when she is older and she is the most beuatiful out of all the alien young girls!!!
