friend  : n. 1 person one likes and chooses to spend time with (usu. without sexual or family bonds). 2 sympathizer, helper. 3 ally or neutral person (friend or foe?). 4 person already mentioned (our friend at the bank). 5 regular supporter of an institution. 6 (Friend) Quaker. [Old English]

So much for definition. The mail box still gets filled up with definitions of friendship. Flash animations, power point slides and e cards. Forwards, as some call it. If the world had enough friends, they say its a much better palce to live. More the friends, the more life is better.. or is it?

I do think otherwise.

The more money you have, the more care you should take not to loose it.

The more money you have, you may not use it all.

No i never said friends are like money. But for me, the more people i know, i find it difficult to keep them all. But there are people who keep them all.

There's a stupid friend of mine, who i met when i was 6. The name is chi01Valsan. Chinjoop Valsan. 19 years passed by, he still roams around me, or i do roam around him(When it comed to food). ya we had a good time, even though with occasional  disputes ( like when he takes auto cause he cant walk 100 meters, etc etc ) After school he took dentistry, and together we had some time travelling in his scooter and car.

And yes, there are a score of good friends from Silver hills - Old friends - i would like to call - like Abhay (Will never forget my SSLC holidays when we would talke a bicycle ride to NGO Quarters ) Arun Thomas (He lives nearby to me.. heard he is Captain now) Aravind (no idea where he is now), Manu Gopal (Who can forget that Group project ), Riyas (got married early, is a father now ) Vinod (Doctor now), and a lot other of them. After a long time, now i have contact with the great Sreekanth (Pallan) and the one and only Joseph John.  Once in a while, i see manjula at railway station and at CWRDM. ooty1

Then there was (Mungal Moosa ) Shanavas, the world famous Karma Mia (Abid). They were the Devagiri ones, but i had spent more time with them after my school days.  We had good times, or great times, in fact.

Hotel Casino, the evergreen Calicut Beach, Kappad and Pookkode were the hangouts then. Food always got the highest priority.  Pazham (Anoop VK) joined us once in a while. And me and Chins used to go to his house to play cricket.

So went Devagiri days. It was Adoor now. with a 90 degree turn - cultural difference, i was in a whole different world. Of course, i did have some of them good frineds - Nambu (Ashish ), My room mate James,  Neethu (this ones a Junior ), Joe,  Shinoj K R (Though we met a little late, for obvious reasons), old ones at Nellivilayil - Adivasi (Shinoj Jose), Dino, Thumbi (Sooraj), Mazin, Sujith etc etc. Then there was reny, Sam, Harish.

The final year project brought 4 of us dumpos together. Rahul, Priya and lenny from computer and the great  me from Electronics. ER & DCI and a Lap top. Museum and Zoo. Food and TV. and project came last. But it came first in marks. and working. best times i had at Adoor, i might say.

Hmmm... Planetarium? its a different story.  Suresh, Shajeev, Arjun, Aboobacker, The Zafar family, Kurian, Joseph, Hari.... the list goes on.  This was one place i really enjoyed to spend time. It has something to do with the staff and the members.

Every one of the staff members - Jayanth, Joy, Justin, Baiju, Thomas,  and every other staff, has been supportive.  Once in a while Jayanth invites us to have food at his house. And all those trips we had were great. It was one place i never had a problem interacting with.  PC and Murukan has always supported us from administration side.

OISCA? everyone expects me to drop in a few words of my interaction with OISCA. Yes, its about 12 years now ( i Joined SALT in 93 ) and i have had my ups and downs with the organisation.

I would like to keep my mouth shut and not mention any names, since i have interacted with so many of them. its a different story, for i believe i am different when i am with OISCA. totally different when with Chins. And yes, somewhat different when with Planetarium.  Three of them are way different atmospheres, so different that i am a different man altogether at these places.

And I Joined Solutions. Too early to say anything. Having no problems at all at Eranakulam. But food matters. I am getting weak, and eating less,  guess.

There were a lot of them who changed the way i think. I have spend a lot of time with the people i mentioned above. And there are some great friends i didnt mention. Like Arun Vijayan. Like my Karate Guru E K Raveendran. Like Naveen, Nimmy, Julie. All were good people i liked to spend time with. If i left out somebody, its not on purpose.  No apologies, as i know my friends can understand. If they cant, they were never friends.... was it a definition?
