Welcome to...
The Red River Valley Gaming Group
Game Room

Hello...and welcome to our domain. You may have noticed the slight change in our name! We have since expanded our territories to encompass more than just the gamers of Halstad, but stretching from Halstad to Fargo/Moorhead. This isn't to say that our small group has grown any, but since most of us have moved around a bit, it couldn't possibly just be called the Halstad RIFTS Gaming Group. Our group has been playing the ever popular role playing game called RIFTS for several years now. Although this seems to be our favorite game, we also have been known to embark on adventures in other Palladium games such as, Ninjas and Superspies, Nightbane, and the occasional bout with Beyond the Supernatural. Other games we have played in the past are AD&D, Shadowrun, Marvel, Street Fighter, and Werewolf.
Our group is unique in that, if you will notice below, very nearly all of us in some way or another are a Game Master of something. We feel that this helps with variety. It does have it's down sides however, because if one GM feels like being Monte Hall one day it screws up the whole game! All that asside, at this time we have nearly ninety role playing related books at our disposal plus 5 imaginitive minds to add to these, at any time.

Current Campaigns
Up until recently alot of our Adventures have been two or three gaming sessions long, floating in what I like to call "an adventurer's dream land", however, at the mutual decision of game master and player alike, we are beginning to form set campaign groups.
I have noticed one detail about our campaigns, that seems rather contrary to what the Siebiedas say about their games. Wars in gaming really does make for a good campaign. The tragedy of loss, the heroism in combat, the thrill of death defying military manuvers, and graphic descriptions of the battlegrounds, all makes for extremely vivid gaming, and creates the perfect atmosphere for awesome role playing by the players, and by the GM. It is very good to develop NPCs on both sides of a conflict, and to not be afraid to actually let these NPCs perish, because it makes it all that much more realistic, and yes, emotional. So, just keep this note in mind when developing new campaigns. This could be the same way in a police campaign, or many other different types of campaigns.
Currently in the works are several campaign ideas;
1.The Skies Over Tolkeen: The characters are plunged into an air war of unmatched devistation, tragedy, and turmoil, in which the characters, themselves may hold the key to Tolkeen's continued existence.
Current Stage of Development: Active.
Primary Game Master: Edward May.
2.The Highest Powers: Dark forces conspire on the fate of North America, but unbeknowns to most, the ultimate of all evils, has his dreaded tentacles wrapped into the mix as well, with his sights set on the Megaverse itself. A small band of champions, formed together on a loose suspicion, are our only hope of survival.
Current Stage of Development: Campaign Notes, NPCs, and plots are set out. Campaign running is being integrated with Campaign idea #3.
Primary Game Master: Edward May.
3.Ronin~Heroes Reborn: The heroes of years before have returned to their days of adventuring, in a new series of adventures as they trek across North America.
Current Stage of Development: Campaign Concept is complete, Adventures are currently being fleshed out.
Primary Game Master: Edward May

Where do we Game?
We have two current gathering places where we congregate for gaming sessions, one of which is in Halstad, the other is in Perley, both of which are in Minnesota.
Do We Game Online?
As of this very moment, no members of the Red River Valley Gaming Group are in or running an online campaign. For a short time, I was in an ICQ based campaign, run by a man who's handle on ICQ is Shotgun. After only a few gaming sessions, he had to quit GMing due to lack of spare time in which to conduct a game. Much has to be said for Shotgun's skills as a Game Master, as his games were both thought provoking, realistic, and very interesting. Overall, it was fun, and gave the others, and myself something to look foreward to in the week. If any would like to try to arrange a new online campaign, just E-mail me and I'd be willing to play. I do not feel comfortable enough to GM online just yet, but I'm sure that will change after I've had a month or so of playing online under my belt.
