'What?!' cried Lina. 'You say that again?'

'Oh, so it gets you,' smiled Xelloss wickedly as he opened his violet eyes. 'But luckily, we have some time. Shabranigdo is still trying to control the body of Dynast-- Dynast has a body that is very hard to control, you know. It is the body of a sub-lord, not a human like Rezo.' (editor: in Slayers, a piece of sealed Shabby was found in Rezo's blind eyes. When Rezo the red priest tried to recover his sight, he woken up the piece of the king of Mazoku and was quickly possessed. However, the soul of Rezo had used his last drop of power to help Lina and the cohort to defeat that piece of Shabby) 'Now I will bring you to somewhere so you can find a new weapon for yourself.' Xelloss called his Stick, howled, and a black swirl flew around the head of the Stick (editor: Xelloss Stick was a tall straight brown stick with a 'c' shape thing on top holding a red jewel in the middle) Xelloss' stroke the stick into thin air, and open an entrance to another dimension. 'Here we go, Lina', Xelloss said and snatched the unwilling Lina and the befuddled Gourry into the hole.'

Lina cried out, 'Hey! How can I be sure that you are telling the truth?' Lina thought,'Bad! I was too shaken up to remember to be careful! Now what I can do is to pray for luckiness, as Xelloss has just surround me with a magic-proof barrier so I could not use any magic without hurting myself.'

Xelloss said, 'Hello, Aqua, see whom have I brought you here?'

'What? Water Dragon? (editor: Water Dragon Lord Laguladia , known as Grandma Aqua, had already died -- she could no longer exist in dragon form -- was badly hurt in the War between Mazoku and Shinzoku about 1000 yrs ago. She had existed in an old woman figure since then, but that body was also heavily damaged when she tried to protect Lina and the cohort in Slayers Next.) Grandma Aqua?' said Lina in a surprised tone. 'Where are you?' Lina looked around in the blackish space to try to search for the kind old lady, but could not.

Xelloss said, 'Hey, I temporarily sealed off that entrance. I am going now. Bye.' And he disappeared thorugh the entrance, and the entrance became a long slit.

Gourry asked, 'Where are you, Grandma Aqua? I can't see you. Now the Mazoku has left. You can come out now.'

Lina suddenly realized somthing. She telepathed,' Oh, thank you very much, Grandma Aqua. You have saved our life for several times but we never pay back to you, and now...' Lina weeped, as she realized Aqua could now only exist in this closed dimension, in pure psychological form.

Gourry still asked, 'Are you OK, Grandma Aqua?'

Lina hit Gourry on his head heavily, scolding 'you are a real moron'. Then the image of Aqua appeared in their minds, 'Oh don't worry about me. I am quite safe here. Although I have not wholly recovered from that explosion psychologically... (editor: in Slayers Next, Lina was led into Aqua's memory which was in a dimension linked to Lina's world, by a leader of the Golden Dragon. Lina's enemy followed Lina into the dimension and induced a fight ) You see, the fight had messed up my memory structure, but I will recover. I have time. Look, this space is not natrually connected to any other place in the worlds. So the Mazoku cannot find me easily. If I do not respond to their searching signals, they will have to look inside every possible dimensions' worlds.'

Lina said, 'Then why does Xelloss know you're here?'

Aqua replied, 'He said he had been searching for me for almost 1 year in total. When he first found me, he nearly collapsed in front of me. But he still joked that it was lucky that I could not harm him' She stopped for a while, 'And you know that he is very powerful. He said he firstly wanted to destroy me, but order came down before he found me that he had to beg me to stay semi-connected for a while, so he could bring you in. He traded my promise for staying in for not killing me. I know trading with Mazoku is seldom fair, but I had no choice, and it isn't bad to see you again, so I agreed.'

'Hmm...It is not fair, sure enough.' And then Lina told what news Xelloss had brought and what Xelloss had asked her to do, and that bringing her here to spot another powerful weapon was the reward. 'I just want to make it clear that I don't think Xelloss is saying the truth.' Then Lina also told her about Luna.

'Oh, poor Luna. But I don't think this is your fault. And may be that's better...' said Aqua in a decreasing tone. 'Anyway, you really have to keep an eye on the Mazoku. You are now to recieve the post of your sister.'

'I...' staggered Lina.
Lina thought under her inner psychological barrier so that Aqua wouldn't know about it, 'Oh my! I don't want to do such things. Risk myself for no reward at all. But it really seems that now I am the most powerful sorceress in the world...oh yes!
'But Grandma Aqua, I am good at black magic, but I am not outstanding in white magic. It doesn't seem right to...'

'Never mind my girl, you are the only one who qualifies for the job. You have been combatting Mazoku sucessfully with black magic, haven't you? And the Luna part in you will increase your ability in using white magical power.'

Gourry came into the conversation, 'Lina, do what is right.'

Lina looked at Gourry, who was staring at her in an encouraging way, finally nodded psychologically to Aqua. She added, 'I am not sure if I will succeed, but I will always try my best.'

'And about that weapon, I know nothing, honestly, but I think I can help you to find it. Link with me psychologically, and go back to the world to find it,' said Aqua.

'How can I ...' asked Lina.

'Just do it. You can. I know more about your present ability than you. Your sister could do it, so can you.'

A pause. 'Like this? ' telepathed Lina.

'Yes. And if you don't do anything to the connection, it won't break even if you sleep or become unconscious.
Yes, in a way, I will always be looking after you, so don't worry.'

Lina and Gourry left the sub-space after widening the slit by hand.Xelloss was waiting outside. 'How does things go?' asked Xelloss with the usual smiling face.

'Aqua will help me to find the weapon. She doesn't know about the place where it is, so I am connected to her psychologically for now on, until we find the weapon,' answered Lina as she observed Xelloss carefully, trying to guess his real intensions.

'Oh,' said Xelloss disappointedly, 'frankly speaking, I planned to kill Aqua at the moment you came out from her place. Lucky for you that I noticed that psychological link between you and Aqua. Now it seems thatm I have to delay my plan...'

Gourry pointed his finger angrily at Xelloss.'you, you...'

Lina sighed and said, 'He has always been like this, you know, Gourry.'

Xelloss said, 'How about our deal? I suppose it's ok.'

Lina said, 'I am not sure whether I will do what you want, as long as my weapon is not found.'

'I know you will treat Dynast well enough,' smiled Xellos and he disappeared.

The story went on like this: Lina could not find the weapon but she did get a chance to sneaked up to Dynast and attacked her unprepared--Dynast's body was drained completely and she collapsed near where Lina was then was.
However, black magic won't work because Shabby was the head of balck magic. Lina tried Laguna Blade, a spell that drew chaos-energy from the Lord of Nightmares(editor: LON is the creator of all things in Slayer's world), but Dynast-Shabby recovered too quickly from any harm produced by a blade.
And then Dynast-Shabby regained a 'little' attacking power, so Lina and Gourry had to hide. Lina thought that the only chance for her to kill Shabby was now or never, and if she failed, the world will end, so she decided to use Giga Slave(another chaos magic), as even the worse end came that Lina could not control the spell's power and the world was destroyed by the leaking chaos energy, the ending could not be worse than if she did nothing.
So Lina spoke out the spell for Giga Slave in her mind, because if she said it aloud Shabby would hear her and attack her fiercely. Lina released the energy, and surprisingly she could control the energy, unlike what happened in Slayers Next.

Just when Dynast's body nearly disappeared, Xelloss appeared and saved Dynast, who was then reduced to an embryo form. 'Thank you for killing the piece of Shabranigdo.' And disappeared with Dynast.

Gourry scratched his head and stood up from his hiding place, 'Why did he say "thank you"?'

But Lina wasn't focused. She was contemlating. 'Why couldn't I talked to Aqua now? Had Xelloss gone to kill Aqua? Oh no! Hm? I thought I felt Aqua's peaceful emotion. It seems that she was trying to tell me that she's OK. But why can't she talk to me? Oh, may be she had guessed that Xelloss would use this link to find her and so she cut down the level of communication until Xelloss couldn't find her easily.
