- Brought into the Major Leagues by Bill Veeck to play for Cleveland in 1948
- Went 6-1 with one save and an ERA of 2.48 in his first year
- 28-31 record and a 3.29 ERA in six years in the majors
- Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1971
