  • He went on to become the dominant pitcher of the Negro Leagues

  • Claimed he won 104 out of 105 games in 1934
  • Brought into the Major Leagues by Bill Veeck to play for Cleveland in 1948
  • Went 6-1 with one save and an ERA of 2.48 in his first year
  • 28-31 record and a 3.29 ERA in six years in the majors
  • Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1971
