BLAZERHOLIC'S TOPIC OF THE WEEK, LEAKS!

MY SOLUTION, REAR VIEW MIRROR ADHESIVE.

THIS WEEKS TOPIC: LEAKS!

One of our readers, Buckeye has posed a rather fun challenge, a leak off. This means roof leaks, so oil pan, head gasket and timing chain cover leaks are not allowed.

E-MAIL ME YOUR BEST BLAZER JIMMY LEAK STORY OR LEAK CURE AND I WILL POST THEM. ie, the blazer at the car wash, light mist on the seats, the foggy windows,my personal fave the waterfall on the left turn...we all know that last one.

As a matter of fact I have found a product to stop the leaks in a blazer! (dear god!) SOlUTION: REAR VIEW MIRROR ADHESIVE! This is what you use to install rearview mirrors onto window glass. It is about the most sticky substance I have ever found. Every Garage should have a tube. For the Blazer, you will not have to deal with waterfalls from your upper door corners whenever you make a left turn! Yeah right turns too but who cares about passengers?

THE FIX:Fill in the leaky area with this black compound (like caulk)wear gloves DO NOT GET IT ON YOUR HANDS! You might want a little help with this instalation. I don't take my roof off (for crime purposes as well as the ten man team it takes to put it on and off, a cryin' shame) so I pretty much just glued the roof to the windshield corners. A no no. I actually spent like 40 bucks on two rubberized water guards for the windshield roof joint. They are supposed to deflect water from the joint down the edge of the door. I think they were a waste of forty bucks. Have you got gaskets around your windows? Who wants to shell out 100+bucks for pseudo-oem gaskets? Go to an auto swap (like a cheap version of Pamona) and find something similar. Use the Rearv-M-A to install either stock gaskets or similar into the window area. After caulking the area, shut the door so that a tight fit is ensured. When the compound is dry fill in areas that still have leaks. I take a cup of water and pour it on the drip rail to find leaky areas. If it stops the leaks, then you are of a higher power.
