Education is a powerful instrument for reducing poverty and inequality, improving health and social well-being, and laying the groundwork for sustained economic growth. It is essential for building democratic societies and dynamic, globally competitive economies. Providing universal primary education, however, remains a great challenge: There are currently 115 million children60 percent of them girlsnot in primary school, the majority living in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.
The Amrat Foundation aims to:
1. Improve the economic lifestyle, literacy and knowledge level of the weaker sections of society .
2. Expose economic inefficiencies to government, business and industry, and the general public to guide decision-makers in pursuing appropriate corrections and forging partnerships for all-inclusive growth.
There are at present there are 29 million primary teachers working in classrooms around the world. Still in order to achieve universal primary education by 2015, another four million teachers will be needed.
As per a new The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) policy paper prepared by Institute for Statistics (UIS) and the EFA Global Monitoring Report (GMR), it shows that at least 93 countries have an acute teacher shortage, and need to recruit some four million teachers to achieve universal primary education by 2015.
According to UNESCO data, India alone would need around 3 million primary teachers to achieve the universal primary education by 2015. The problem is exacerbated by a steadily growing school-age population.
There is an acute shortage of teachers. There is also longstanding neglect, insufficient public financing and accountability, and a lack of motivation among some teachers to pay special attention to poor children from lower castes. Even basic amenities like water and electricity are not being provided.
An effort, as small as spending time helping others, can go a long way in bringing change in lives of many. The sheer feeling of accomplishment or joy that you get by lending a helping hand to people and organizations can be quite overwhelming.
