Food
Chinese like to have different platters of a different variety of foods for dinner.  A traditional meal would include a serving of vegetables and meat along with rice.  Sometimes we also like to include homemade soup.  Different groups of Chinese people like to flavour their food or cook their meal in different ways.  There isn't a specific or special way to cut or cook the meat.  Some foods are reserved for special occasions.

We also use a utensil called "chopsticks".  The chopsticks are made out of wood, and also can be made out of plastic.  If you have never used them before, the easiest way to describe how to hold it is, hold it like a pencil.  Then use your index finger to control the movement of the chopsticks.  It may be difficult in the beginning, but with practice it'll become easier.

Here's a delicious recipe you can try at home:

Garlic Chicken

3-1/2lb. frying chicken, cut into serving pieces, or the equivalent in chicken parts
3 T peanut oil
1 head garlic, peeled and coarsely chopped
2 small dried hot red peppers
3/4 C. distilled white vinegar
1/4 C. soy sauce 3 T honey

Heat oil in large heavy skillet and brown chicken well on all sides, adding garlic and peppers toward the end.

Add remaining ingredients and cook over medium high heat until chicken is done and sauce has reduced somewhat. This will not take long; less than 10 minutes.

If you're cooking both dark and white meat, remove white meat first so it doesn't dry out

Watch carefully so the sauce doesn't burn or boil away.  There should be enough suace left to serve with the chicken, and the chicken should appear slightly glazed.  (Remove chicken from skillet and place in a platter, then reduce sauce if necessary.)

Then, enjoy your meal!!
Chopsticks! Once you get used to them, chopsticks are very easy to use!
