News Updates

August 23, 2003: MEREL RUNS!!
Congratulations to Merel Venneman, Heather Brien, Jeff Boulanger, David Beisel, and Tim Holliday (oh, and to me!) for their awesome times in the Angel Island 12K. Click here for race results, here for for photos from the race, and here for more detail on the island. This was an awesome race, despite the fact that it was somehow up hill the whole way!

Septemer 9, 2002: RUVINSKY WRITES!!
Check out Jessica Ruvinsky's article in the September 9th issue of US News and World Report. It's titled  "A Long Slow Autumn"; it's a great article; and if you read it in the magazine it even comes with a very pretty map.

Septemer 6, 2002: SCHOOL BELLS ARE A RINGIN'!
In case you've wondered where I am (or why my work extension stopped working), I've recently started the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Before that, however, I was able to have a great summer traveling, including a road trip through the South, a three week jaunt down to Argentina and a quick hop over the pond to attend the wedding of my friend Nellie and her husband Joel in Ireland. It was as fun and exhausting as it sounds!

May 11, 2002: KAMPAI! JUNKO AND TAKA ARE MARRIED!!!
If you were wondering what that noise was, it was the sound of three off-key Gaijin singing their own rendition of ¨My Way¨ to celebrate the occassion (click here for the lyrics and here for the photos).

March 14, 2002: I´VE GOT A GOD DAUGHTER!!!!
Today, the angelic Sophia Winkler was born at New York University Hospital in Manhattan, New York. Congratulations to both of you, and if anyone can tell me what exactly godfather does, I´d be greatful!

February 2002: COKO WA DOKO!!!
If you were wondering where I've been for the last month and a half, I've been in Tokyo, Japan. I am out here with work helping to set up a new real estate group for Deutsche Bank in Japan. This place is both completely bizarre and tremendously interesting, both professionally and culturally. My brother was over here for a while and has written a nice travelogue about his stay, complete with pictures from all over the country (click here for to check it out). In addition to hanging out with my co-workers and my brother, I have used my time in Japan to routinely confuse, frustrate and entertain my co-worker Eriko Ota by pestering her with inane vocabulary questions (click here to check out my growing vocabulary).

November 10, 2001: WEDDING BELLS!!
Please join me in celebrating the joining together of one of my oldest and best friends, Evan Winkler, and his lovely bride Camilla Meyer (click here for photos of the event). Their awesome wedding took place in the beautiful American Cathedral in Paris, France and was attended by numerous friends, family members, and, of course, Mr. Winkler's Pantler. Oh, and did I mention they had a flaming Wedding Cake!.
