The Unofficial
Nicky Holland Page

Thanks for the pic, Phillippe!

This web page is dedicated to Nicky Holland, who worked with Tears for Fears on the Seeds of Love album.

I became a fan for an unusual reason: I thought she was in the video for "Sowing The Seeds Of Love". (Notice the resemblance?) It took me a year to find out Roland was, in fact, married to someone else and it was his wife in the video (OOPS!) So sorry, ladies.

One reason I mistook poor Caroline for Nicky (apart from similar features) was that she had on a white, floral jumpsuit- Nicky wore white floral pants in the "Scenes from the Big Chair" video. (The woman in the "Woman in Chains" video also wore a white floral robe! Interesting.) I recieved a pair of black floral pants as a gift, and they make me think of Nicky. I wear them as a good luck charm. To view these pants, click here.

I highly recommend her two albums, "Nicky Holland", and "Sense and Sensuality." At the Tears for Fears Zone you will find a complete discography and a link to where you could go for info on her first album.

At Imusic there is a biography of her recent years, and a bulletin board where you could post your thoughts- (take my advice and do it- so far as I know, she'd love to hear from you!)

Be sure to check out her selected lyrics. (They are fascinating- great picture of her too!) Now includes 10 songs from both her albums (first one out of print- too bad!) and "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" (from "My Best Friend's Wedding, I believe written by Bacharach/David)

Did you know Nicky Holland....

..."Is quite a good card player, makes a cracking cup of Earl Grey, and enjoys a drink with the boys". Roland, Tears for Fears! (!)

...Sang backup for The Skids, a punk band (!) on thier "Joy" album. Stuart Adamson of Big Country my favorite star, was a member. Wonder what they said to each other?!

...Wrote a song, recorded by the group "Eden's Crush" (Popstars)on their album!

...Is a fan of Fsol ("Future sounds of London") They sound great!

...Worked with Oleta Adams on "Badman's Song". I noticed the first scene of the video "Circle of One" had a woman who looked a lot like Nicky (sitting in an armchair writing) but I don't know if the actress was picked for that reason or not. I wish they would work together again!

...Produced the Lisa Taylor(a lovely Vanessa Williams lookalike) CD "Secrets Of The Heart". To buy that or other used CDs, click below!

Songs which to me bring Nicky to mind:
"Ships" (first version), Big Country
"2 become 1", Spice Girls
"Live to Tell" Madonna
"Someone to Lay Down Beside Me" Linda Ronstadt
"Learning to Fly" Pink Floyd "Tongue tied and twisted, just an earthbound misfit, I"
"I Will Remember You", Sarah Mclachlan
"To be Free" Emilliana Torrini "I just don't know what to do with myself!"
"Angel Street", Ice House
