EPIC 40,000 - WAR ON A WHOLE NEW SCALE

Towering war machines stride their way across the battlefield, firing incredibly powerful weapons of mass destruction which lay entire landscapes to waste. Around their feet, huge tanks, artillery pieces and siege guns batter each other into molten-hot scrap metal. Legions of infantrymen fight and die amidst the ruin as lightning-fast airships make stafing runs across their objectives below.

In the dark future of the 41st Millennium, there is only war. However, Epic 40,000 brings futuristic combat to your tabletop on a whole new scale as entire armies of thousands of troops do battle among legions of the most powerful and gigantic weapons of war ever to blast their opponents into oblivion in the nightmarish future of the Warhammer 40,000 universe!

Unlike the 28mm Citadel Miniatures which are used to fight battles of Warhammer 40,000, the stands of warriors, vehicles and war machines which are used to play Epic 40,000 are about 6-7mm in scale. This means that your armies are larger, battles are bigger and battlefield weapons such as the incredibly huge Titan Legions which would be impractical on a Warhammer 40,000 tabletop are easily represented on an Epic 40,000 battlefield.

SO WHAT IS EPIC 40,000 ALL ABOUT?

At first glance you might think to yourself, "Epic 40,000 is just a smaller version of Warhammer 40,000, right?" Well, the answer to that is "No it's not, but there is a connection." The Warhammer 40,000 universe is a wide, rich and diverse place where the only real constant is complete and unending war. So far, Warhammer 40,000, Epic 40,000 and Battlefleet Gothic are the three tabletop miniature games that we have produced to represent the conflicts of large forces in the 41st Millennium. Warhammer 40,000 is a 28mm squad based game which utilizes forces of about 50-100 models in an average conflict. The combat system, weapon details and overall flow of the action has been developed to represent small to medium scale skirmishes between individual detachments rather than battle between entire army groups. Battlefleet Gothic depicts combat between fleets of vast interstellar starcraft in the darkened void between the stars.

On the other hand, Epic 40,000 tackles the more tactical and sweeping conflicts which take place between entire armies or groups of armies on a much larger scale than Warhammer 40,000. The 6-7mm scale of an average human trooper in Epic allows for war machines and other equipment which would be much too large to be practically represented on a 28mm battlefield (although some of the more fanatical gamers out there do so) to be easily placed on the tabletop with, for example, a 6 inch tall Emperor Titan miniature. Combats are won and lost not so much on the individual prowess of great heroes or even the combat skills of elite units, but more on strength of numbers and the tactics a commander uses to gain vital objectives and key battlefield locations.

All three games share the same dark, gothic and deadly background and arcane technology that has come to make up the history of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. So while you may deploy a squadron of Land Raider tanks from a Thunderhawk Gunship troop carrier launched from an Emperor Class Battleship in a game of Battlefleet Gothic, you might fight with a detachment of these powerful war machines in a game of Epic 40,000 and use one or two Land Raiders a spearhead for your force of Space Marines in a game of Warhammer 40,000!

In all three games, luck, skill and army selection play an important role. However, Epic 40,000 is closer to the definition of a traditional land-based wargame that most people seem to hold in their minds. That being said, all our games offer ample opportunity for taking the time and developing the skill to paint armies of Citadel Miniatures to amazing standards. So, in the dark future of the 41st Millennium, there is only war. However the scale you choose to fight your battles, big (Epic 40,000), medium-sized (Warhammer 40,000) or in the vast darkness of interstellar space (Battlefleet Gothic) is up to you!
