Worked for the British Ministry Of Defence as a Chief Engineer and was awarded the British Empire Medal in the 1983 Birthday Honours List, for "Services to the People" His working career started at Sheerness Dockyard and when this yard was closed in 1958, he moved to Greenock, Scotland to work in the Port Auxiliary Service on Admiralty water boats. Later he became an Inspector in the Clyde Marine Services Base at Great Harbour. He finished his work career, returning to Kent in 1978, to work in the Chatham Dockyard in the personnel counselling department. |
