Underworld Deities

The overdeities of each of the three polytheistic religions of the Greeks, the Egyptians, and the Norse varied hugely. Generally, each god had some sort of ties to the sky (Ra was one of the Egyptian sun gods; Zeus was the Greek god of the sky; Odin took to the sky to move between the 9 Norse realms), but other than that connection, the gods show no relation. Odin, for example, was a god of knowledge, the dead, war, and was also the ruling deity, whereas Zeus showed strong traits of retribution, and was a god of the stormy sky. Further differing, Ra was a superiorly powerful god of the setting sun, and teh Egyptian creator deity. Continue on to learn about each of these gods separately in the above pages.
