Bathala� s glorious hands protect his ever-knowing eyes. A divine light breaks the gloomy under belly of the forest floor. The crickets emit their familiar chirping as the Divine Being gasps in awe at his most valuable creation. Amongst the bushes along the serene riverbanks, a graceful figure looms upon its creator. It was about 9 in the morning that 19th day of May in the year nineteen hundred and eighty five (1985), I brought a tearful smile to my mom and dad. I was named Gina Lorraine for the reason that until now my dad cannot explain. I am the eldest among the three daughters of Ernesto and Fe and pretty much having two lovely sisters namely Noreen Ann and Kristine Faye are enough to have a very superb family. When I was a little girl, I brought joy to my dad as I started to sing and dance at the age of three. Being his pride, I used to sing and dance in front of my relatives in occasions like birthdays and Christmas. My childhood memories are mostly filled of activities with my cousins. At the age of five, I went to a Catholic school, St. Mary�s College. There I learned to write my first ABC�s. I also had new friends in that school. After a year my dad decided to move to a new place, I transferred to a new school � St. Mary�s Academy of Sto. Ni�o. I spent about a decade of my life in that school. I learned a lot from it from values education to leadership rograms. Academically, I improved. There I met the people who played big roles in my life. My best friend Joanna and I became close when we were in fourth grade. I had a circle of good friends there. Also in that school, I met my boyfriend Christian. My secondary school ended by giving pride to my mom and dad. I finished with honors and qualified for the University of the Philippines. I entered UP for my undergraduate studies. Here I met my new friends whose pictures I posted in my other link. I learned to be competitive in a healthy way. When I entered this school, I am determined to excel. I am determined to reach my goals and give pride not only to my immediate family. I want to prove the people that I truly deserve UP education. And that I can still give joy and pride as I continue in this journey called life. The River Nymph might be guided by a path but she is not afraid to create another course just to reach her destination.
