The Force. The binding energy that flows through every living being. There are few beings in the galaxy that can develop the skills necessary to use this energy.
The Jedi.
The Jedi Order goes back thousands and thousands of years. It's a long-standing group of beings that devote themselves to the good of all. They put themselves in harm's way more than any other kind of hero or mercenary. And it's not for money, fortune, or fame--it's to make the galaxy a safer place to live.
As with any group, there are two sides. There are the Jedi, who devote themselves to selflessness and good.
And there are the Sith. This group is dedicated to bringing the galaxy under their control, to enslave every living being for their own evil purposes. They pervert and twist the Force to their own ends, using it to harm and destroy instead of heal. They embrace the Dark Side of the Force.
To join the Academy, you must submit yourself to the Force. You must vow to follow the Light Side, to heal the galaxy, and to help where you can. The Dark Side's temptations and empty promises mean nothing in the face of good. But beware, for those temptations can become incredibly difficult to resist...
