There's a reason why this is a very brief bio, and it would be that despite some pretty enthusiastic efforts on my part (begging, pleading, cajoling, the usual drill), John Pyper has always been very closed mouthed about his personal life. Despite being the keeper of this page and an email pal of Pyper's for around four years now, I don't really know that much personal information about him myself.
In this age of psycho fans, who commit acts from the relatively innocuous (like breaking into a celebrity's house and sleeping in his clothes) to the unspeakably heinous (think John Lennon or Rebecca Schaeffer), it's not difficult to imagine why a celebrity would want to keep his private life private. And that's totally aside from the fact that, like any other human being, he has the right to have other people know as much or as little about him as he chooses for them to know.
'K, I'm climbing down from my soapbox now, and with that little disclaimer out of the way, there is a bit about JP I do know, and am willing to share.
John Pyper-Ferguson was born in Mordiallic Australia, which according to Da Man himself is located just outside of Melbourne. However, he only lived there for a short time. And although his place of birth was not Canada but Australia, he says "But, Yes I am a proud Canadian." His birthday is February 27, which makes him a Pisces (or as JP himself said, "a fish head". :-D)
He has an affinity for action movies, and likes Nicolas Cage, Kevin Spacey, and Samuel L. Jackson. When asked what draws him to a certain character, since he's played both "bad guys who aren't all bad and good guys who are a little naughty deep down", he replied with one word: "humanity".
As some of us have long suspected, he does much of his own stuntwork. "I fall down alot. Sometimes another fella falls down for me but mostly I manage to fall down without to much help."
He plays the guitar and listens to lots of music. He has mentioned Ween's "12 Golden Country Greats" as a favorite album. (That's actually a little scary, to me, but to each his own, says I).
John Pyper - Ferguson has brown hair, a fair complexion, and depending on whom you ask, hazel, green or brown eyes. (Hey, I've met him, and I still don't know!) I do have an opinion, however, and it's hazel. So there.
