MARINADE
Ingredients:
1/4 cup olive oil
1 clove garlic, chopped
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon grated lemon juice
juice of 1 orange
1 Tablespoon each, chopped basil and parsley
1 Tablespoon soy sauce
1/4 cup red onion
Mix all ingredients together and pour over fish. Do not marinate
for more than 1 hour, as the fish will begin to cook. Cook fish over charcoal,
or on a gas grill, 8 to 10 minutes a side and serve with Mango Salsa.
BEER BATTER
Ingredients
2-3/4 cups flour
2 Tablespoons oil
2 whole eggs
3/4 teaspoon salt
Dash pepper
1-1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 cup flat beer
3/4 cup cold water
Open beer and leave it at room temperature for at least 1 day. Chill
until cold. Add water, oil, and eggs; mix just enough to break egg yolks.
In separate bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. (If you omit
this step and add the garlic powder directly to the liquid, it will lump
up and not dissolve). Whisk in dry ingredients, leaving some small lumps.
Refrigerate until ready to use. Can be made ahead 24 hours. Remix. If going
to use right away, you may thicken with additional flour.

How to Spool Line On Spinning
Reels
Put line on spinning reels right, and the line will not be twisted
Difficulty Level: easy Time Required: 10 minutes
Here's How: `
1.Pull old line off reel thu line guides until you have enough room
on spool for new line
2.Always leave some line from spool through rod guides and past
end of rod to tie new line to
3.Tie new line to end of old line with two clinch knots
4.Lay spool of new line of floor so line comes off spool just like
it goes on reel spool
5.Hold line tight with left hand just above reel
6.Reel line onto reel slowly, making sure it is spooled tightly
7.Fill spool to within 1/8 inch of spool lip
Tips:
1.Don't fill whole spool, you usually need only about 50 yards of
line for most fishing. Save money.
Fishing Lines
There are many brands of lines on the market, from expensive brand
names to more generic lines carried by discount stores. All have their
good and bad points. Choosing a line is given a lot of thought by some,
like professional bass fishermen, and little thought by others. For
many years I used only Stren line but now also use some of Berkley's line.
Both are high quality, neither has ever failed me when I needed it, and
I use both with confidence whether fishing a tournament or trying to catch
crappie for a meal. Experiment to decide what you like best. There are
so many new lines and improvements available almost weekly that it can
be hard to keep up. When you find something that works for you, use it.
When you choose a line, take this simple test to see how much you
know about line. Then decide if you want to use a braid or mono, what color
is best for you, and what you need if you are going after a record. To
set a line class record, the line must break at or below the record test.
More expensive lines are guarenteed to do this, cheaper lines often cover
lax quality control with higher test line than stated on the spool, eliminating
your shot at a record. Walleye fishermen have a different set of qualities
needed for their lines. No matter which line you choose, you need to change
it often and take care of it. Put it on right, put the right amount on,
and know when to change it. All are part of fishing with the right line.
Spool up with your favorite and head to the lake. You will improve your
success, and make sure the big one does NOT get away, with the right line.
