Title: Pickled Fish
Categories:
Yield: 1 Servings
Raw fish; chilled
2 tb Salt
1 Onion; sliced
1/2 c Sugar
2 ts Mixed spices
White vinegar
You can use almost any type of fish, but northern and sunfish are
good. Clean fish and cut into smallish pieces. Fill a quart jar 3/4 full
of fish. Add salt, onion, sugar and spices, fill with vinegar. Cap tightly
and refrigerate. Shake jar every day for 4 days; let set a week or so for
good taste. This keeps for a couple of months.
Fishing stories
One of the KAS angler's was fishing recently at Price's
dam off the Golden Stairs Road and managed to catch a Carp of approx. 12kg.
The carp was successfully realease back into the quarry.
So on that note here are some Carp tips:-
Leading about Tony Knill
When you are leading about, trying to find a hard bottom instead
of weed or silt, try the following. When you cast out, if the lead hits
a hard bottom like clay or gravel, the rod tip will bounce sharply when
the lead hits the bottom. If the lead hits a soft bottom (i.e. weed or
silt) the rod tip will not bounce sharply, it will come back slowly and
the line will slacken. No bounce at all.
Get on the hard stuff - a Top Tip!
PVA Stringers Tony Knill
This tip can make a difference when either fish are shy of stringers
or if you are trying to reach further distances. Thread your baits onto
the stringer in the usual way but instead of tying the stringer onto the
hook, tie it on to the swivel end of rig (next to the lead). This allows
the bait to stand slightly away from the stringer (it may intice a fish
that is shy on feeding on a long line of baits). It also allows you to
cast that little bit further. I have no explanation as to why it increases
casting distance but I am running a few tests to see.
Tie your stringers to your lead - a Top Tip!
Test of the Best
I have heard through the grapevine that the Test of the Best is
to be held on the 10th and 11th May . Good luck to the Kariba Angling Teams
fishing. I know Kas Remmington Gold (unfortunalty Colin will be away but
one of the reserves will be replacing him), Kas Renegade, Kas Frontline
all qualified . I also have heard that some of the teams aren't participating
so KAS Tiger Tech who were in 11th place are now fishing.
Good Luck KAS teams 1st,2nd,3rd
and 4th would be nice.
League
Kas Angler's don't for get league is on the 11 or 12 May 2002
