Reasons
for performing the Grand Mahakala Puja and Sacred Protector
Dance
At
this present age of Kaliyoga age pf End pf Dharma),
Dharma is weakening and there has been an obvious upsurge
of evil forces and decrease in fortune. Everywhere, countless
lives and properties are lost through wars, terrorist attacks,
destruction of precious monuments like the Bamian Buddhas,
the gloomy economic situations, landslides, earthquakes, murders,
robberies, rapes, thefts, drug abuse and incurable illness.
This is definitely not the kind of world we want our children
to live in. Therefore, it is important to uphold the wisdom
life of the Buddha through carrying out the Buddha's Activities
to suppress evils and make this world peaceful and prosperous
again.
To do our part, our center has embarked on
the construction of Stupa, Prayer Wheels and Butter-lamp house
for worldly peace and prosperity. And now, we have taken up
the ambitious project to perform the Grand Mahakala
Puja and Sacred Protector Dance. We are inviting Ven,
Gyalpo Rinpoche and 14 other lamas from the famous Karma Lekshe
Ling Institute in Nepal to perform this puja from the 7th
of May to Wesak Day, the 15th of May 2003, a total of 9 days,
with the protector Dance on the Last Day. We have also acquired
a very majestic and wrathful gold-plated copper
Mahakala statue standing at 4 ft. overall height, to be consecrated
for this purpose. To perform the puja, we have purchased the
many musical instruments from Nepal. We also sponsored the
sewing and making the costumes and masks for Mahakala and
protectors. In other words, we are trying to follow closely
the Karma Kagyu Tradition and perform this puja on a very
grand scale very rarely seen this country so that the full
blessing power of the wrathful Buddha activities of the Protectors
could be harnessed and unleashed. To make this project
a success, generous sponsorships are much appreciated to cover
the huge amount of cost involved. In so doing, tremendous
merits are gained and the full benefits of the puja would
be attained.
Whatever funds raised would be used for our most important
project which has obtained the blessing of both H.H. 17th
Karmapa and H.E. Tai Situ Rinpoche, namely,
-
The rebuilding of our centre premise which is at the
moment too small and poorly equipped for us to carry out
any major activity. We plan to build a new 4-storey building
over the present one, with provisions for 1 Main Shrine
Hall to house 300 plus devotees, i practice hall for special
teachings and meditations, 1 shrine room for Mahakala and
the living quarter of H.H.17th Karmapa on the topmost floor
overlooking Melaka city and the Straits of Malacca. In the
Building we would have rooms for Eminent Rinpoches and lamas,
a library, classrooms, dining hall and other necessities.
