At times, this biography of the Greek hero Alexander the Great is superb in its scope, cinematography, sets, and costumes. At other times, though, it seems to collapse under its own power. While Richard Burton gives a magnificent performance in the title role, many of the supporting roles are very over the top. All in all, this is not a bad film; it's just heavilly flawed.
