THE LONG BEACH RECREATION DOG
PARK ASSN.
MAINTENANCE, FEBRUARY 2003
March 3, 2003
It was perfect Dog Park working weather on Feb 17-19. The first two days were overcast, yet a cool breeze occasionally fanned the Dog Park Ditch Diggers. A very good thing, too, because after six inches of decomposed granite and topsoil, my friends, you're hitting honest-to-God Californian hardpan, and thoughts turn to tactical nukes.

Kids, stay in school! Skilled workers drive ditch witches. Unskilled volunteers smile and drive shovels, picks and wheelbarrows.

The two water stations inside the main park were excavated and filled with fresh rock....

Decomposed granite was laid and trees were planted. A pretty good lick of work for only closing for just a few days! |
