DEVOTION TO SERVICE

Domain IV - Professional Responsibilities
The Nkyinkyime Adinkra Symbol(twisting) represents toughness, adaptabaility, devotion to service, and the ability to withstand hardships. As a teacher it is my responsibility to ensure student success.  I must be devoted to my profession and willing to go above and beyond sometimes in order to reach all of my students.  With this devotion I understand that I must be able to adapt to all environments and circumstances, even those beyond my control.  I must be tough enough not to sweat the small stuff and always keep my head up high.  I must remain steadfast when hardships arise because  I do not have enough supplies, technology or equipment.  I must remember to be creative and innovative for my students at all times so they will not get complacent. Lastly, I must remain professional at all times even when I may not want to.
My professional responsibility goes deeper than just the classroom.  I must stay current on issues that affect my profession and my students.  I must maintain a sense of pride and always be willing to improve myself so that I can have a positive influence on my students.  It is my duty and my goal to always strive for excellence.  To attend workshops and staff development seminars to gain more knowledge and new ways of doing things.  It is my responsibility to stay involved in professional organizations that are catered to my profession of early childhood education.  In all that I do, I want to make sure that my ultimate goal is for the children that I teach and reach.
