David A. Miller

Mr. D. A. Miller has taught mathematics on every level from 1+1=10 (base 2 of course!) through the Calculus, and differential equations over a period of more than 20 years. Currently Mr. Miller teaches 7th grade mathematics at Chaparral Middle School in Chaparral, NM.

He was born in Indiana but moved to New Mexico early in life and regards New Mexico as home. His one real regret is that he was not born in NM and is not a true native.

Mr. Miller has also worked as an Electronics Technician and was trained in the U.S. Navy. During this time he taught engineering Electronics and mathematics at the Advanced Electronics School, Treasure Island, CA. He also earned and held a First Class Commercial License with a Radar Endorsement qualifying him to work on shipboard and airport radar systems and commercial TV and Radio transmitters.

His interest in pesonal computers dates back to the first build it yourself kits in 1974. Over the years he has owned a variety of machines using different processors. In the early years he coded assembly language on the 6502, 6800, Z80 and 8080 processors out of necessity. Gradually he progressed through Basic, Bascal, Fortran, Cobol to C and C++ and just recently to HTML. During the late 80's and early 90's he was coding medical software for the Nursing Home Industry and Worked in Bellvue, WA across lake Washington from Seattle primarily in C. This is his first attempt at HTML coding starting about 2 weeks ago, May 1999. The return to coding is refreshing.

Some of his interests include History, in which he holds a BA degree, particularly the ancient Roman Republic, which he studied for many years. Other interests include Astronomy, particularly cosmology, philosophy, old movies, particularly musicals and science fiction, he is an avid Star Trek Fan and would be pleased if there were a Star Trek only channel on cable. As his students are well aware he has a dry, word oriented, sense of humor and enjoys a good pun.
