Minnie Mouse with her sweet nature, although she did tend to go into hysterics, allows Mickey Mouse to be her hero. When Mickey & Minnie play in the same animated shorts, Mickey Mouse often comes to Minnie Mouse's rescue as the gallant hero. This doesn't necessarily mean Minnie is a weak character; she has often acted as a strong character in her animated shorts.
Judith Martin once described Minnie Mouse as "the shy giggler whose favorite posture is clasped hands, cross-eyed toes and a face decorated with a bashful smile and a blush."

A Word from Mr Walt DisneyDid Mickey Mouse ever Pop the Big Question?In private life, Mickey is married to Minnie. A lot of people have written to him asking this question, because sometimes he appears to be married to her in his films and other times still courting her. What it really amounts to is that Minnie is, for screen purposes, his leading lady. If the story calls for a romantic courtship, then Minnie is the girl; but when the story requires a married couple, then they appear as man and wife. In the studio we have decided that they are married really. |
