Greetings from Pluto

A Faithful Companion

Pluto

Pluto

Who is Pluto?

Well, Pluto has had many roles through the years. He is best known as man's best friend, or perhaps I should say mouse's best friend and a loyal mutt. Pluto has also been Minnie Mouse's household pet. When he isn't the faithful companion or the household pet, he can be found as Chip and Dale's victim and every once and a while Donald's victim. With Pluto's demeanor he is an easy character to pick on and so more often than not that is the case.

More about Pluto

Pluto like many older brothers displays great frustration for his younger brother. He has a younger brother who appeared in Pluto's Kid Brother in 1946. This little guy looks innocent enough, but he sure can get into trouble. But like any good older brother, in the end Pluto forgets the trouble caused by his younger brother.

Pluto has been involved with a couple of ladies. His first love, Fifi, actually gave him pups. In later years he focused on Dinah, who didn't really care for his attentions.

Mickey Mouse Speaks

How Pluto Became Mickey's pup

Well, along about this time [1940s], Walt decided that I should have a permanent pet. First we had to find a name for him. Everybody in the studio got to thinking. Names like Rover and Pal were dreamed up, but none seemed to fit. One day Walt came in and said, "How about Pluto the Pup?" - and Pluto it's been ever since.
