My Story
I was a stay-at-home mom
raising two elementary school age children, married, and living in the
suburbs. With the kids in
school, I had time to fill and a desire to do something with my life
that would supplement the family income and yet allow me to be home with
my children. My goal was
simple: I wanted to work from home. I spent several months
combing through books and magazines at the library and bookstores and
searching the Internet for potential sources of working from home.
There is an overwhelming abundance of get-rich-quick schemes out
there! However, I was
looking for a legitimate home-based business. I came upon medical
transcription. I had never
heard of medical transcription before.
The more I learned, the more convinced I was that this was the
home-based business for me. I
learned all I could and it didn’t take long before I got my first
medical transcription job and I was working from my home.
It was hard at first.
I had a lot to learn. With
a good selection of resource materials at hand – reference books,
magazines, networking tools, and especially the loving support of my
family, I persevered. I
gained confidence. My
business grew. My life
became fuller. It has been 15 years since I first discovered the business of medical transcription. The work is certainly interesting. New drugs, new equipment, advances in procedures, even new diseases combine with the broad spectrum of specialties such that there is always more to learn and more to know. I set my own hours, part-time or full-time – schedules that change to accommodate the twists and turns of life. Often an abundance of work forces me to have to turn new clients away! I take pride in knowing that I am contributing to the medical community. Being a medical transcriptionist has afforded me the opportunity to work at home. It has enabled me to supplement my family’s income in a substantial way. It has provided me with a career that has been personally and financially rewarding. There is a great demand for
medical transcriptionists - to work on site in hospitals, doctors’
offices, and other medical centers as well as to work from home locally and even
over the Internet. Investigate
the possibilities and take your first peek into the real world of
medical transcription with Period
Paragraph. You, too, can
set your goals to become a medical transcriptionist. |
