Infants (birth to 12 months):
Infants are supervised at all times.
Parents provide formula or breastmilk, baby cereal and jar food, bottles, diapers, wipes, bibs, a blanket for naptime, and a labeled change of clothing. Older infants learning to feed themselves are given bite-size finger food in the high chair.
All infants are put down to sleep on their backs, in the manner recommended by the SIDS Alliance and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Studies have shown that placing babies on their backs to sleep has reduced the number of SIDS cases by as much as half. Newborns nap in a bassinet, bouncy seat or infant swing in the playroom so we can keep a close watch on them. Older infants with predictable nap schedules sleep in a pack 'n play on the main floor. Baby monitors are used to listen in. They are checked on every half hour to an hour.
Infants' diapers are checked and/or changed every 2 hours, unless needed sooner.
Toddlers (12 months to 2½ years):
Toddlers eat meals and snacks from the regular menu in booster seats at the table.
Toddlers nap in pack 'n plays or on cots in the playroom. We play quiet music during this time.
Toddlers' diapers are checked or changed every 2-3 hours, unless needed sooner.
Toddlers are welcome to join the older children in preschool activities that are appropriate for their development.
