Survivor began in a whole new way as the two oldest castaways got to pick tribes. Jake picked a younger Sook Jai tribe and Jan picked an older Chuay Gahn Tribe. On Chuay Gahn the tribe had to go far to find their water source and John Raymond decided to play a fun little joke on his tribe. However after Chuay Gahn lost the immunity challenge, they voted John off.

Sook Jai began to crumble after when Jed and Stephanie decided that the shelter was a waste of time. On Chuay Gahn, Jan and Helen were gone for hours after getting lost getting water. Sook Jai continued dominating in the challenge and won both the reward challenge and the immunity challenge. Tanya was never able to adapt to the conditions and was voted out.

On Chuay Gahn, after a mixup while sleeping Ghandia and Ted had it out. Ted said he mistook Ghandia for his wife while he was sleeping and "grinded" against her. At the reward challenge, members of Sook Jai didn't play by the rules and were penalized several times giving Chuay Gahn their first win. Chuay Gahn went on to win immunity and Jed was voted out for being lazy.

After returning from tribal council, Stephanie felt frustrated with her tribe and felt she was on the outs. And ever since the scandal on Chuay Gahn the tribe doesn't feel good anymore. Sook Jai won the reward challenge and things became separated between men and women on Chuay Gahn. Sook Jai was able to win reward and Helen backstabbed Ghandia who was voted out.

Brian made a deal with Ted amongst others on his tribe and Robb was attacked by something in the ocean. Chuay Gahn also lost their boat after not tying it down well. At the reward, a food auction, Jeff offered the ability to switch tribes but no one took his offer. Chuay Gahn won immunity and  Stephanie who had contemplated switching was voted out.

Robb felt vulnerable after his two friends had been voted out of the game. On Chuay Gahn the tribe still greatly missed their boat and Sook Jai had difficulty with the bananas they had won Sook Jai won the reward challenge but it was Chuay Gahn who won immunity. Before tribal council Robb put things into perspective and felt changed before they voted him out.

Expecting the merge, the two tribes met and got to eat food and talk with someone on the opposing tribe. Sook Jai then joined Chuay Gahn on their beach. After a lot of negligence from Sook Jai, Shii Ann even planned on flipping to Chuay Gahn. However at the immunity challenge Jeff told them that they had not merged and Chuay Gahn went on to win the challenge sending Sook Jai to tribal council where they voted off Shii Ann.

Now in the minority, Penny was feeling unsafe and tried to bond with the Chuay Gahn members who didn't think she was being very real. The new mesh of people proved to be to much for Ken and Jake who disliked the peeing in the cave and Helen telling recipes. Chuay Gahn won the next immunity challenge and Sook Jai was sent to tribal council and voted out Erin.

Down to just three members, the former Sook Jai tribe felt they needed to bond with the power Chuay Gahn members. Jake even tried to tell some stories. At the reward challenge the two tribes merged into the Chuay Jai Tribe and Brian won a video from home.  Clay won the immunity challenge and the former Chuay Gahn members voted off the strong Ken.

Upon returning from tribal council Penny realized that if she was going to beat Jake she would have to suck up to the Chuay Gahn members Brian won reward challenge, an elephant ride, and Penny tried to backstab Jake at the immunity challenge which Helen won. Jake was able to convince the former Chuay Gahn members to keep him and Penny was voted out.

Jake was the last remaining Sook Jai left and things were not looking good when Clay became mad at him for a comment at tribal council. The final six were surprised when their loved ones showed up for reward, which Helen's husband won and she got to spend the night with him. They came back for immunity which Ted won and the former Chuay Gahn sent Jake to the jury.

Sook Jai is gone and time for Chuay Gahn to finally take themselves out. Brian is the only member of his tribe to feel confident in his position. Brian still even acknowledged is alliance with Ted. Ted was able to win a car and tried to get Helen to vote for Clay. Brian won the immunity challenge and had a spot in the final four. Brian didn't need Ted so Ted was voted out.

The remaining four realized after the last vote, that it was now a very cutthroat game. Brian was able to win the final four immunity challenge. With the help of Jan, Helen was voted out at the next tribal council. After their right of passage the final three competed in their final challenge. While standing in an awkward position the three had to hold coins between their fingers. Brian won again and voted out Jan. He and Clay went to the heated final tribal council and beat him 4 to 3.
