The Space Enthusiast's page
Are you interested in space? In technologies used to build/maintain satellites? Or in
the math involved? (Don't worry, there is no math here). When I was a kid, I used to
lap up every kind of information available on astronomy, satellites, and the like. But
then I did MTech in Satellite Technology and realised that information on how rockets
& satellites work (Except that of a very basic kind) was missing in whatever I
had read till then. This is an attempt to fill that gap.
I have written several articles on how satellites are built, launched, the physics involved,
the kind of instruments we carry on the satellites. The articles do not carry any math, and
are intended for everybody who can read english. Such knowledge is not available elsewhere on
the web, and nor is it available on popular magazines. If it is, well, I have not seen it.
Hop on to the Spacecraft, and let us make a trip of this fascinating technology.
The Launch Pad
A general introduction on how satellites are launched, and why they are
launched.
What You Throw Up, May not come Down
Gives you a lowdown on satellites, their types, their uses, the heights
at which they fly.
How do they get up there?
Satellites and how we make them fly..
The Eye in the sky
Satellites.. wingless birds, flying thousands of kilometers above..
constantly seeking, following, watching. What do they see? and how do
they see it?
I shot an arrow into the air..
A lowdown on launch vehicles (rockets) and how they manage to put the
satellites into orbit.
The Earth Rotates..
Now that you have come this far, let us see Why do satellites need
propellants and a sophisticated control system on board.
The Indian Eye
What do the Indian satellites see?
A Listing
A list of the major remote sensing satellites in orbit(Out of date).
