Black Cats and Billy Goats

In 1945 the Cubs were playing the World Series. The owner of the Billy Goat Tavern planned to see the game, having bought two tickets - one for himself, one for his goat. He had done it before, but this time (a World Series game) he wasn't allowed to take the goat with him. He declared to everyone listening that the Cubs would ot win another World Series until they let him and his goat in. That day the Cubs lost, 4-1, and they went on to lose the Series. Although years later the nephew was allowed in with the goat, it seems the curse is still intact.
Below is a picture of another bad luck sign that bothered the Cubs. In 1969 a black cat went to Ron Santo and on to the Cubs dugout, looking at Leo Durocher, the Cubs manager. Santo struck out on his next at bat, and the Cubs lost the pennant to New York, although they were in first place for 155 days...
