Tom Gordon --Pitcher
"'Flash [Gordon] has got icewater in his veins,' Larry McFarland liked to say - and Trisha always said the same thing, sometimes adding
that she liked Gordon because he had the guts to throw a curve on three-and-oh."
Stephen king wrote about the Cubs closer in one of his books. Back then he still played for Boston setting a record for consecutive saves. Then he hurt himself and
missed a season before he was traded to the Cubs. In 2001 he pitched two thirds of the season for Chicago being out again in September. Still he is a remarkable pitcher, his
finger pointed skywards after a save has been a trademark ever since he came to the majors. If he stays with the Cubs and stays healthy he will be able to contribute to the
team and set records again.
