ABBOT, Jon “Battlestar Galactica” Starburst August 1988 Retrospective by a writer with clearly mixed feelings and some telling criticisms (i.e. “Women in the cast got a particularly raw deal.” Amen, brother).

click to see an image of this issueADAMS, William J. “Who Killed the Battlestar?” Fantastic Films, June 1982. Very good article documenting how ABC deliberately killed BG. Must reading.

ADAMS, William “Television vs. Science Fiction: Could it be War?” Questar 10, December 1980 Earlier article covering the same territory but with less emphasis on BG.

ADAMS, William J. and Susan T. Eastman, Larry J. Horney, and Mark N. Popovich “The Cancellation and Manipulation of Network Television Prime-Time Programs” Journal of Communications Winter 1983. The scholarly study the above articles were based on.

ARONSON, Mark “Star Wars vs. Battlestar Galactica” Fantastic Films 6, April 1979. Typical ignorant anti-BG article.

ASHERMAN, Allan “From Star Trek to Galactica”  Space Trek Special, 1978. Interesting, early article that compares and contrasts the differences and similarities between the two series. This is a magazine worth having, not only for two good early BG articles, but a very unusual color ad on the back cover for the Monogram model kits that shows what might be a pattern for the Monogram viper kit.

BLOCH-HANSEN, Peter “John Colicos: The Quintessential Klingon” Starlog 138, January 1989. Very good interview with Colicos, covers his appearance on ST but also covers BG fairly well.

FREEMAN, Don “I Laugh at Myself a Lot” TV Guide April 14 1979. Interview with Maren Jensen.

GROSS, Edward “The Other Side of the Conversation” Starlog 137, December 1988.  A remarkably frustrating interview with Richard Colla, who directed half of the BG premiere, it only touches on his feelings about the premiere and never discusses the whys and wherefors of his abrupt resignation.

GUEST, William and F.W. Evans “An Interview with Dennis Muren” SFFC 4, October 1978. A very interesting interview with Apogee SFX expert Muren.

PICKNARD, Terri “Battlestar Galactica Girds Its Loins!” Famous Monsters 149, November 1978. Enthusiastic, somewhat amateur preview, includes a brief review from a reader who saw the film in Canada in summer 1978 and includes this provocative comment about Muffit having a “‘cute’ little habit which I found on the crude side,” inevitably raising the question as to what that may have been!

SCHUTT, Geoffrey “Anne Lockhart: From Battlestar Galactica to Knight Rider” Media Sight, winter 1983. Interview with Lockhart and transcript of a convention Q&A session.

VAN HISE, James “Battlestar Galactica” SFTV #4, and March 1985. One of the more intelligent criticisms of BG; this is evidently the second article of a two-parter.

ZIMMERMAN, Howard “Lastword” Starlog 19, February 1979. Inane, inaccurate attack typifies Starlog’s infamous anti-BG stance.
