THE BATTLESTAR GALACTICA ART OF RALPH MCQUARRIE:

CARILLON AND THE OVIONS

Welcome to scenic Carillon! Presumably this painting is supposed to represent the hotel lying below the casino area, and as usual it was too science-fictional for the production team.... The Ovions were conceived to be tall and slender as McQuarrie indicates here, but the costumes were just the opposite and Glen Larson went on record as despising them. Originally the Ovions were intended to be recurring enemies, but Larson nixed them after the premiere.

Live entertainment! The Android Sisters, aka the Space Supremes, appear in the casino.
This has been captioned as an image of the mine below the casino on Carillon.  My problem is that it doesn’t look like a mine, and could be intended to represent the interior of one of the pyramids on Kobol. However, it is arguable that none of McQuarrie’s known artworks  represents anything other than scenes from the premiere.

See ya! The end of the Ovions as a Colonial viper strafes the casino.
