18th July 2007 Julian Ware-Lane Chosen to fight Castle Point

Castle Point Labour Party met on Sunday 15th July to select their Parliamentary Candidate for the next General Election. The meeting was held in Richmond Hall, Benfleet and those attending packed the room. The selected candidate, chosen from a strong field, was Julian Ware-Lane who has lived in South Essex all his life.

Julian, 47, has a wife and six children and works in Basildon for an IT company.

In his acceptance speech, Julian gave a commitment to have an open debate with residents, highlighting how Castle Point has benefited under a Labour Government and what Labour promises to do under the next Government: "I intend to remind people what Labour has done, and lay out what Labour will do in the years ahead. I will also do my best to make sure the needs of Castle Point are known within Government."

Constituency Chairman, Mark Reilly, said: "Julian brings vitality and will help Labour engage with residents in the shopping centres and on the doorstep. Labour must make a real difference to the lives of residents and will offer Castle Point the opportunity to play a bigger part in government by electing a Labour Member of Parliament."
