11/30/2000 - Final Fantasy is an eloquent series of games that focus on telling a story using not only outstanding visual imagery but a well developed plot that includes namesakes taken straight from the pages of human history and mythology. Squaresoft has done an exceptional job in it's games like Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Secret of Mana, and of course Final Fantasy. Thoughout these games there has been a prevailing unspoken story told in the usage of certain historical and theological referances. Xenogears was a very obvious example of a game that used religion and spirituality as a storyline device. Have you ever wondered who Fenrir was? Or Yggdrasil? Ask one of your Jewish friends sometime what a Sephiroth is, and you'll be surprised at the answer you will get. I have taken the opportunity to uncover what Squaresoft is trying to express in their games with all the referances to mythology and human religion in it's games. I've seen things and representative elements that run the gamut from Christianity, to Bhuddism, to Hinduism, to Islam, to Greek Mythology, to Norse Mythology, and even Babylonian Mythology. In my landmark expedition into the many historical referances of Squaresoft in it's RPG's I have culminated a great deal of information into one source available on this site. This information is for you to explore at your liesure. I hope to someday unwravel the underplot of these games embedded within the dialogue and plot development. I have posted the first part of my investigations today:
