We have 4 main venues for gay men and lesbians within Brisbane and they are all just a bit different from each other.
The Beat Nite Club
One of my usual haunts... especially on $1 drink night where u get a half shot of basic spirits for $1. The scene is very mixed but upstairs is the main gay area and downstairs for the STR8's where techno pumps like anything and Upstairs used to play 70's, 80's and 90's but now they seem to play fag hag bag music that's generally not appealing to quite a few of the older guys these days. Lots of cute twinky boi's go there though.
Crowd has died down atm due to new smoking restrictions...

The Wickham Hotel
Occasionally visit there.... drinks there are quite pricey and half the time the staff don't know if it's happy hour or not or which bar is the happy hour drink serving area. The scene is very mixed but slowly returning to be gay once again with the exception of the weekends where more people seem to go to the valley where The Beat and The Wickham are centrally located. The music nowadays seem to be of a style that only Sydney and Melbourne would only inhibit. Occasionally cute boi's are there but not the easiest place to pick up unlike The Beat.
Currently Wednesday $3.20 basic specials is a really good.

Sportsman Hotel
Sometimes visit there... drinks are priced ok but cheaper than anywhere else if you're a beer drinker. The scene is a butch STR8 acting kind of a place where you get to see plenty of hairy bears and people who obviously don't appear gay at all. The drag shows there are of an old style nature compared to The Wickham or The Beat where their shows are recent song hits. If you are a man's man this place is for you.
Weekends seem to be the best atm.

Options Nite Club
When it's occasionally open... this place is a bit like The Beat but generally not many go there as it's not open all the time... usually only for special occasions.
