Bus 19 is a 1979 Gillig with a CAT1160, and a Spicer 5 speed. This bus has a manual door opener, and a few other features not seen on most other Gilligs. ** This photo was taken several years prior to the one below it. Look for different mirrors, the wiper arms are black in the lower photos, and the emblem obviously has some wear (most of the paint is gone). Also, look for a newer appearance to the bus in the upper one. |

This Gillig is a 1976 Gillig with a Caterpillar 3208 and a Fuller 10 speed transmission. The model number of this bus is 636D-13, 76, passenger capacity, The bus is given a weekly wash and wax, and is one of the best looking Gilligs I have ever seen. |

All Gillig buses in the Quillayute Valley School District are model number 636D-13s. They are no older than 1978, and most of them have been recently restored. I photographed these in paparrazzi style, so some of the photos may look blurry. (I had to hurry up and try to get as much as I could - I had a family outing occuring a block away). Never fear though, these photos are sharpened to the best of my image editor's abilities without compromising photo quality. In fact, the distant shots of bus #4 were photographed from the driveway of my Aunt's house in Forks. Here are some trivia facts about these Gilligs. All of the Gilligs, except bus 18, have black flooring, dashboards, and seating. All Gilligs there have "identical twins." Buses 77-17 and bus 18 are identical twins, and buses 81-4, 81-7, and bus 4 are identical twins. All buses are powered by Caterpillar 1160s, and all have the Allison automatic transmission. All of these buses have been retrofitted with "Blue Bird style" light monitors. Buses 77-17 and bus 18 are 1978s, and buses 81-4, 81-7, and bus 4 are 1982 Gilligs. |
