Interior Emblems
Exterior Emblems
This emblem replaced the wing-badge emblem in the late 1950s. Three variations of this emblem exist. This one is the second variation. An earlier version of this emblem has a thicker border, and the words "HAYWARD, CAL." are more blocked out. The edges of the word "GILLIG" are more rounded in the first variation too. The third variation has a thin border, more pronounced lettering, and the blue area has a sculpted texture like the second interior emblem. Buyers had the option on the third variation of either a blue and chrome emblem or an all-chrome emblem.
This emblem was the last of the oval-emblem era. It reflected a few things. First, you'll notice that the word "BROS." is no longer on the emblem and that the words "HAYWARD, CAL." are more centered between the edge and the word "GILLIG." The reason for this was that a major steel manufacturer in Hayward bought Gillig in the mid '70s, and Gillig Bros. became Gillig Corporation. The few changes on this one was a new v-shaped contour, a sharper border, and a reshaped "GILLIG" lettering. The "Ls" were slightly inclined and the Gs" were reshaped at the top and bottom. This emblem came in a more darker blue background, but wasn't as weather resistant as the earlier emblems. This emblem here has been badly oxidized and its blue background has faded away. Two variations of this emblem exist. The sculpted texture existed on this one for the first year of this emblem, then the background texture above replaced it. This emblem was replaced in 1982 with the new high-tech Gillig look that the Phantom buses used
Miscellaneous Emblems
This Emblem was used on the interior of all Gilligs equipped with the Fuller Roadranger 10 speed transmission. Two variations of this exist. One is for the above diagram of the Fuller Roadranger RT610, and the other was for the RT910. The RT610 was used in the rear-engine applications while the RT910 was used in all mid-engine applications with the option of the 10 speed transmission. The diagram for the RT910 is seen below:

This emblem was used on the front of all Gillig coaches after 1960 and until 1982. It was positioned about 6 inches below the front emblem and signified the model number of the bus. This is not the actual emblem though, its a recreated emblem using MSPaint and layered HTML for the positioning of the numbers "855."
