WDW mansion:
Foyer:
Really the only secret here is the morphing painting of Master Gracey. This is done in a series of projections done from behind the painting. These projections overlap each other to make it look like the painting is changing.

Stretch Room:
The big secret here is the ceiling, how do they make it disappear? The ceiling is just a scrim. Another word for screen. Disney paints one side of the scrim to look like the ceiling, and when the other side (the attic) is lit, it looks like the ceiling disappeared.

The First Staircase:
After sitting in your doombuggy, you pass under a large staircase with a candle floating. The candle is held by strings.

Sinister Eleven:
The secret here is the eyes, how do they make them follow you? Well, the eyes in the paintings are cutouts, and the actual eyes are placed a couple inches behind the actual painting, it is just an illusion.

Library:
The secret here is the busts, they are inverted or "hollow". When light is shined on them the way it is it appears that they are following you. It is really your brain playing tricks on you. ;)

Music Room:
The main affect here is the pianist. This is achieved in two ways:
1.The piano is obviously electric and programmed for the keys to move
2.The shadow of the phantom pianist is just a projection form the ceiling. Believe it or not he is made out of cardboard!

Endless Hallway:
The was they appear to make the hall endless is mirrors. Believe it or not, the hallway is only about two chandeliers long! There is a mirror behind the floating candle, and to the side of the candle. Making it look like the hallway is endless. The candle is held on strings.

Corridor of Doors, and Coffin:
The coffin is just two motorized hands pushing up on the coffin lid, and the demonized doors are just motorized. I have also heard that the bending door in the hallway is made of rubber.

13 Hour Clock:
The main affect here is the claw of the monster. This is done by a gobo hidden behind the doombuggies. The gobo contains four monster claws rotating in a circle, when light is shined on them, it looks like the claw.

Séance Room:
The big effect here is the talking head named Madame Leota. All it is a projection of a face onto the blank head inside the crystal ball. If look close enough you can see the projector. And yes, the floating objects are held on strings.

Ballroom:
This is by far the biggest effect in the mansion. All you are looking into is a huge pane of glass running the length of the room. There are audio-animatronics ghosts below, above, and next to you. When light is shined on the ghosts, they appear in he glass, making it look like there are ghosts in the ballroom.

Graveyard:
The effect here is the flying ghosts. These are projections of ghosts onto a scrim. The singing busts are also projections as Madame Leota.

Crypt:
This is probably the most popular effect in the mansion. The way they get the ghost looking like it is in your doombuggy is: a two-way mirror. There is a robot hitchhiking ghost behind each mirror following the doombuggies. When light is shined on the robot ghost, and the person riding in the doombuggy, it looks like the ghost is riding with the person.

Little Leota:
The little ghost at the end of the ride is Little Leota. It is a model doll dressed up like a ghost. Her face is then projected onto the doll.
