Here are a few stats for the curious... Mark Richard Hamill is 52 years young, born Sept. 25, 1951. He is the middle child of 7 children. His parents are William and Suzanne Hamill. Mark, being the child of a Navy Captain, grew up in various places, California, Virginia, New York and Japan. He graduated from Yokohama High School in 1969 then returned to California where he entered Los Angeles City College as a Theater Arts Major. His acting debut was on "The Bill Cosby Show" in 1970. He spent nearly a year, parts of '72 and '73 as Kent Murray on "General Hospital" before moving on to the short-lived TV comedy series 'The Texas Wheelers". His big break came in 1977 when he was cast as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. That same year, he appeared in the pilot episode of ABC's Eight is Enough. After being threatened with a law suit for wanting to break his commitment to ABC, Mark was involved in a bad car accident where he received severe facial injuries, requiring plastic surgery to repair. He went on to reprise the role of Luke in Empire Strikes Back, 1980 and Return of the Jedi, 1983. Since that time, Mark has starred in several on and off Broadway plays and has continued to star and co-star in various movies, TV programs and done extensive work with voice-overs for cartoons. He is the voice of The Joker in the Batman Animated series and movies. He has co-written a comicbook, The Black Pearl, which he hopes to direct as a movie based on the comicbook series. Mark's mulitple talents carries over into his off duty time as well. He enjoys painting, drawing, collecting comicbooks, antique toys, and action figures. It is obvious from Mark's chosen work that he has a great love for children, and that love has obviously carried over to his own family.
