Viking Patch 1965-1970


The Viking Patch		 This is the first patch of the West Valley Campus Police. It has the colors of blue and orange which are the school colors; and of course, the Viking in the center of the patch is the school mascot.

At the that time the department was a student force run by the coordinator of the college's Administration of Justice Program. The students were non-sworn and had to call the city police for any enforcement action; however, officers of the student force were allowed to be armed when riding with sworn officers of the city.

The uniforms of that time were gray shirts, midnight blue pants with a royal blue stripe down the side of the pant leg.

During this time the West Valley College campus was in the city of Campbell, and a new campus was being built in Saratoga.
