District Police Patch 1980-1986 |
In 1979, Mission College opened in the city of Santa Clara. West Valley and Mission Colleges were now a district. The official name was the West Valley Joint Community College District. Of course this name was to long to put on the police patch. The word District was simply added to the name. The patch now read West Valley College District Police.
During the 1980's the departments California Penal Code authority had changed. The officers were now peace officers on and off duty with peace officer powers through out the state of California. Officers now hired on the department had to complete the police academy prior to entering the field training program. |
