Christiana Relays: March 25, 2000
The Cougars traveled to Christiana, Delaware for the first meet of the season on Saturday, March 25. They returned home having scored in nine relay and individual events, with the girls team taking 4th overall.
The first event on the track was the shuttle hurdle relay. The team of Lisa Cutrufello, Lindsay Dubil, Katie Simpson, and Sara Dougherty ran to a 1st place finish in 1:15.9. Next, the 4x800 relay team of Lauren Hutelmyer, Liz Martin, Colleen Kirby, and Kate Curran completed the distance in 10:47.6, taking 5th place.
Next, the 4x400 team of Lisa Cutrufello, Lauren Hutelmyer, Erin Kane, and Colleen Kirby secured 6th place with a time of 4:35.5. Finally on the track, the distance medley relay team of Liz Martin, Lisa Cutrufello, Colleen Kirby, and Kate Curran captured 2nd place in a time of 13:43.2.
For the boys, the distance medley relay team of Sean Donovan, Steve Vescovitch, Ryan Lobb, and Pat Shea took 4th place in a time of 12:22.2.
In the field, competition was individual, not in relay format. Successful for Springfield were Sara Dougherty in pole vault (10' - 1st), triple jump (34' 9 1/2" - 2nd) and long jump (15' 2" - tied for 6th), Sarah Johnson in pole vault (7' 6" - 5th), Anna Zischkau in pole vault (7' - 6th), and Amanda Rider, finishing 6th in the discus with a throw of 87' 5 1/2".
