Update 6 @ 06/08/2002

Firstly apologies to those whom I have disappointed in the delay since my last epitome. Once again external forces are affecting my plans, not to mention my wallet. In brief I had to cancel my Landline and thus loss of access to my Website.

Progress is being made but slowly.

Blackpool - Not finished but operational with Balloon 710 and as yet unnumbered railcoach, operating a self sustaining shuttle service (courtesy of Gaugemaster's SS-1 and magnetic reed relays on the ends point sets. Magnets provided by Maplins, and fitted under lifeguards). Still have the backdrop to do but have enlisted my brother, suitably armed with a photograph (which I am hoping to be enlarged ) repeatedly to cover the twelve and a half feet of seashore required.

Meanwhile my birthday cash from the kids was spent on 2 x Bachmann Pcc’s and 2 x TD1 Double Decker buses in Manchester Corporation Livery from Brookside Garden Centre, which has an excellent model shop. (Railway, Buses and Corgi trams form a fair percentage of stock). Needless to say two more Blackpool Balloons have been converted using the Pcc’s running gear. (See photos). More TD1's would be liked, but at £18 now is not the time, and others are also required but not available as yet; Tilling- Stevens etc. of the period.

Mersey Square - Thanks to Metcalf's viaduct kit ( x3 ) the Stockport's railway viaduct has been added and if a close look at the back drop is taken you can see why I am hesitant with the rest. Fortunately a fair proportion will be covered by buildings eventually and thus less noticeable (I hope). Metcalf's Market Clock Tower has been modified to provide the bus shelter in front of the road bridge.

Albert Square - Is currently the center of attention whilst I am constructing from scratch the buildings of the period from old photographs. The card is supplied by Morrisson's, whilst aiding the carriage of the weekly shopping in the back of the car - I find the lettuce trays ideal. (see photos). Slater's brick papers of differing designs, acetate and balsa are also being pressed into service. The Town hall is the viewing point ( fortunately ) and thus will not be shown but the Monuments and toilet entrances will need to be added prior to the overhead constructed onto the home-brew traction poles (60+ ) provided by my old 12 element 2metre Yagi aerial I took down off the roof to make way for the home-brew QFH aerial (QuadriFilar Helix , before you ask ), required to receive images from polar weather satellites which I am also doing during the day.
