The Mind of  W. Kite

Genetics

When the monk Gregor Mendel
Had a close look at garden peas,
He found he could do just as well
As what had been done by bees.

By cross-pollinating the plants
He got some short ones , others tall;
That Genes were life's basic stamps
Perhaps didn't cross his mind at all.

Today we know that all there is
Is dictated by Genetics,
And the way to improve on this
Is to resort to Eugenics.

And though we are all very keen
To improve every other breed,
Few accept the same should've been
Applied also to human seed.

But not content with nature's ways
Most hail racial integration
With all the poor traits it conveys,
As man's final destination.

Don't knock the feelings I express
For deep inside you know it's true,
Not racism, but race consciousness
Has been inbred in all of you.

Empangeni, 2001.
