The Acceptance of the Inevitable

Happy are the people who contemplate
Nature's strangely intricate scheme of things
And in their innermost being can relate
To the permanency concept she brings.

The acceptance of the inevitable:
That Nature will never alter her ways
And what has long been by her acceptable
Will remain constant to the end of days;

Her path has been set from the beginning,
 Her components intricately related,
 Her mechanism immune to tampering,
 Her destiny cannot be deviated.

She looks upon all the human effort
To meddle in laws that they cannot change
And she knows that what is of real import
No human has the power to rearrange.

The wise will quietly observe and ponder,
Unmoved by the frantic bustle about,
All of man's futile efforts and wonder
If, perchance, others too will find this out.

Empangeni, February 2002.
